Do You Have A Voice? Do You Want One???

Hey people. Earth Tones needs some exposure, and we’re looking to get cracking on the blogging tip a bit harder than you can remember in the recent past (see: 60% of the last 6 months). Therefore, we’re looking for contributors to our blog (as you can see, I’ve added one new member to the team…that was previously a team of one). So, if you have insightful, funny, colorful, stream-of-consciousness, sports-related, pop-culture-related, hip-hop-related, tech-related or just plain BLACK stuff to write about, then:

Just make sure that you know how to spell, self-edit, and refrain from raging out unnecessarily over stuff all the time. If you’re interested, shoot an email to info@earthtonescomic.com with the subject ‘Contributions’, and we’ll give you the once-over and some more details. Please have sample work available to view if applying.

And remember, this is a CONTRIBUTOR role, so it’s NON-PAID (you see advertisements on this page, boy???). I can’t stress this enough, people. But if you want exposure as a blogger/writer/journalist, this is an outlet. You give us quality posts and traffic, we get you exposure and a chopping block. Sound fair? Send us an email. Thanks!

Earth Tones: It Gets Better!

Ooh New and Shiny Right? Eh, Your Tech Love Is Oh So Fleeting

Soo I tried to watch a VHS this week and it just hurt!

Dude, did we really rejoice when auto-tracking was introduced!? Gaaah, I mean I feel a seizure coming on! The lines and the grey and the white and the lines and the grey and it starts again and I just want to throw the VCR ACROSS THE ROOM!

I remember the excitement of auto-tracking’s advent. When it changed our entertainment lives; revolutionizing the ease of viewing entertainment.

-Drum roll please-

Auto-Tracking: The VCR does it by ITSELF (sort of).

We actually needed to 'track' the video back then...

I don’t have to sit on the floor in front of the VCR playing with the two little nobs trying to make the picture better…[here's a secret, it NEVER stayed better.]

I learned to just watch the video from the floor in front of the player cause getting from the couch or the table across the room every time my Video Tracking OCD kicked in, I had to climb down there and mess with those little knobs again!

I am liberated–For Now.

However, it is a surety in my mind that very soon the majority will feel the way about the iPad and the Droid as they did about VHS (with auto tracking) when DVDs came along. We wont believe we used to have to sit there and TOUCH the screen with our fingers! We will have moved on to the mastery of accurate voice commands.

A new Day has dawned; I’m sure there will be a parade.

Kanye West Interview From The Day of His Car Crash in 2002

Wow, never heard that verse from Ye at the end. That was pretty dope, would like to hear it in a song…but it’s too late now. But as it states in the following excerpt, it’s crazy how many things he was already predicting before the crash!

Not sure if this was ever released before, but DJ Whoo Kid dug up this interview footage of Kanye West from October 2002. This was apparently shot right before the studio session (with Ludacris) which led Kanye to fall asleep at the wheel and crash his car later that same night. He then of course recorded “Through The Wire,” which led him to put out his debut album The College Dropout, a year and a half later. This month marks the 6 year anniversary of the album’s release.

What’s weird is, aside from all of the things he managed to predict in this video, he’s discussing another car crash he was in right before this was shot. A young Joe “3H” Weinberger also makes a cameo and there’s an a cappella freestyle at the end.

An introduction, an in-tro-duc-tion….

That’s more intimidating then it should be; that 4 syllable, not uncommon word, introduction. It almost demands that I sum up enough of who I am in a nice bite size piece, to help others know what to expect from SRAustin as a new Earth Tones contributor.

Ha, even I don’t always know what to expect.

I’m female, I’m black (or African American if you prefer), I love music, dogs are my fav!, and I’m easily entertained–a positive rather than negative attribute I assure you.

Here’s what else:

I do know that I will be honest and as fully forthright as I know how.

I won’t pretend to know what I’m talking about all the time, and  may well ask for some input. LMBO, I am comfortable with the fact that some folks know more than I do and I expect you to give me your 2 cents.

I am very excited to share my mental ramblings and ponderings with you.
