What’s Wrong With This Picture???
I was thumbing through this Maxim that I got in the mail today* before I hit the sack, and as I scan for at least a small handful of fine black chicks to gawk at (to no avail; see ppg. 29-34 of Maxim #140 for reference…and DON’T COUNT Brandi), I finally come to this Newport ad** on the VERY LAST page.
**Disclaimer: don’t smoke, kids. ’s not worth it; every old-ass person I’ve ever talked to regrets ever starting once they saw the damage it did to their body and mind. Slaves, I tells ya!
Anyway, it took a second for me to realize how imbalanced this damn tug-o-war was…I don’t give a damn about cigarettes, but come on!!
- You got 2 black folks on one side, and on the other side you have two white people and what can only be percieved as two hispanic people on the other side. Okay…
- The black man and white woman are the closest to each other (team-wise), the black woman and the white man are furthest away from each other, the hispanic people are just thrown in next to each other for good measure it would seem…
- The black woman is facing away from the black man, and everybody else in the picture for that matter
- The black man is cheating by grabbing the rope past the red flag
- The black man is the only one whose face you can’t see
- Even though this tug-o-war has no clear boundaries (so it will never end as long as everybody plays their part), the outnumbered black couple appears to be holding their ground
I’m not trying to nit pick this to death, but…there’s a problem here on some ol’ metaphysical-subliminal-type stuff. I’m an increasingly supportive believer in the theory that ‘they’ (whoever they are) know EXACTLY what messages they’re putting out, and how those messages affect us–ALL of us. See: propoganda.
That’s all.
