Hey, it’s been a minute since I’ve been around, but I just had to poke my head in for this one:

Initiative.

Wyclef Jean is reportedly running for president of his native Haiti. AllHipHop’s exclusive source tells them that the official announcement should come about on Thursday, August 5th. I think this is a great boon for the people of Haiti, because nobody seems to care more about Haiti in the public eye then my man Wyclef. And who else would you want running a country except the person(s) that cares the most about it?

It’s also great because, I mean, there are a lot of potential revolutionary things to come out of a Wyclef presidency. Terms are five years there, and a president can serve up to two terms, so that’s a potential 10 years of  Mr. Jean running ish. A lot can be changed in 10 years. That the man has built a fortune in his lifetime is no small matter either, since Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the developing world. Making money commerce is something that would be great for him to have oversight of (indirectly, by way of good treasury and commerce appointments of course).

All I can say is hopefully he fixes the education and healthcare first.

Complex’s “The 50 Hottest Brazilian Women” list includes a fair share of pan-African princesses. Shockingly, Gisele–I’m not going to attempt to spell her last name, even though it’s right on the site–is #5. I mean, granted, this is Brazil we’re talking about–a land, many historians agree, was inhabited by Africans long before the European explorers came along.

I’m really happy for you, and I’ma let you finish…but how come you haven’t been up on any talk shows pubbing your sh!t, son? You could clearly be a big hit with the Daily Show and Colbert demographics, and based on some comments I’ve seen around the internet, there was a gang of folks that weren’t even aware that Season 3 has actually hit yet. I’ma need you to advertise, man. This BoondocksBootleg, Jay Electronica, grass-roots stuff is cool, but you can also reach across the aisle, especially now that the season is out of the production phase.

Matter of fact, I don’t think I’ve seen you ANYWHERE other than twitter since you’ve been working on Season 3. I demand…naw, naw, I don’t have cable so maybe I’m just not seeing it. Do what you do…but I hope you’re pubbing.

The final season? For reals? I mean, it looks great…but why must ALL good things come to an end so abruptly??? Chappelle’s Show, anybody?  This is one DVD box set that I will have to add to the bucket list. Get it while it’s still on YouTube!

I’ve finally reached that point in every non-connoisseur’s life when they start getting seriously behind on that certain subject/product. There are so many new musical artists coming out nowadays, I haven’t been able to keep up with these cats for the life of me. It’s not even like I haven’t had the time to check out artists…but I think I’m reaching my quota for favorite artists to check for. (more…)
