The Association Frivolously Fines Teams for Talking About Free Agents

I’m sure there’s some kind of literary name for what I did with the title there, but ANYWAYZZZ

So, lemme get up on my soapbox for a second. I just read this article about how the ATL Hawks owner got fined 25 stacks for answering a question regarding LeBron’s free agency. Dude said something to the effect of, “yeah, shoot I’d sign the hell out of him if I could,” for which the League hit him with the outrageous fine that could feed some children for a year or some s#!%. Sports Get On My Nerves Sometimes, Man…

(AP Photo/Elise Amendola)

I was watching ESPN after LeBron & ‘nem lost last night, and afterwards I took some time to reflect upon what the analysts were saying. At this point I can’t remember who was saying what since damn near everybody that worked for ESPN was covering that game last night, but it seemed like everybody was emphasizing how important MONEY is for max players in the NBA, and how that will be a large determinant of where all the big-name free agents end up after this season. A Classic Speech, Possibly On Deaf Ears

I remember watching this for the first time about a year or so ago. I thought it was worth posting, just in case nobody ever saw it.

I wish stuff like this happened more often. Kids of today should still be doing this. Children have less reputation and ego to manage when speaking their mind, and this is a very good example of how, over time, we’ve suppressed so much of our own consciousness. The truth of the matter is, this isn’t even a very deep speech, but given her age, the prestigious stage this is on, and how relevant this is to EVERYONE ALIVE, dammit it should get the kind of reaction this would get if it was the winning shot of a Game 7 NBA Finals game:

That was a pretty dope oop too.

Marion Jones signs with WNBA Shock

“She made some ill-advised decisions in the past, but everyone deserves a second chance to excel at something they love,” [team president Steve] Swetoha said. “The city of Tulsa gave a struggling franchise from Detroit a second chance, and I’m confident it will do the same for Marion. We couldn’t be happier to have her on board.”

I don’t care about the steroids or the criminal record…Marion Jones can still get it.

LeBron Planning To Change His Jersey Number

Pretty much this.

James has filed paperwork with the NBA to change his uniform number next season to No. 6 from No. 23, the league confirmed Tuesday. James said earlier this season he would be willing to give up No. 23 in an effort to have the NBA retire it in honor of Michael Jordan.

Paperwork had to be filed this week to request a number change for next season.

“All it does is back up LeBron’s beliefs,” Cavs coach Mike Brown said. “He’s a loyalty guy. When he believes in something, he sticks to his guns and he believes wholeheartedly in what he’s doing.”

Now we’ll have to wait and see what Martell Webster, C.J. Watson, Wes Matthews, J-Rich, Lou Williams, B.J. Mullens, Stephen Graham, and Toney Douglas will be doing with their #23’s. Whether these players follow suit will say a lot about how much pull Lebanon has with other players in The League.
