Wyclef for Haiti Prez.

Hey, it’s been a minute since I’ve been around, but I just had to poke my head in for this one:

Initiative.

Wyclef Jean is reportedly running for president of his native Haiti. AllHipHop’s exclusive source tells them that the official announcement should come about on Thursday, August 5th. I think this is a great boon for the people of Haiti, because nobody seems to care more about Haiti in the public eye then my man Wyclef. And who else would you want running a country except the person(s) that cares the most about it?

It’s also great because, I mean, there are a lot of potential revolutionary things to come out of a Wyclef presidency. Terms are five years there, and a president can serve up to two terms, so that’s a potential 10 years of  Mr. Jean running ish. A lot can be changed in 10 years. That the man has built a fortune in his lifetime is no small matter either, since Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the developing world. Making money commerce is something that would be great for him to have oversight of (indirectly, by way of good treasury and commerce appointments of course).

All I can say is hopefully he fixes the education and healthcare first.

FYI: Still waiting for a window for me to work on the next strip. Be patient. Me too!

Wanna-Know Wednesdays: The CPT Edition (Part 1)

Okay! Well…as it’s that time of the week [as of yesterday], I’m primed to hit y’all with an official edition/rendition of the soon-to-be-famous Wanna-Know Wednesdays here at Earth Tones.

What we’re gonna do is take your input from previous polls, and compose a nice little blog that reflects what the popular consensus says. I don’t generally pander to the popular consensus, but here is about the only place I choose to make an exception. Because it’s MY SITE. (more…)

The Passion of the Pres…

Alright…so I actually have a few things backed up to put out, been kind of busy though, I’m on that just out of college (tryna get a) “Good Ass Job” flow.

But anyway since it is the oldest thought in my queue and since we’re on the topic of Obama “disappointing” people, I’ll start with that.

Politics and media have been quite the comedians as of late, the most recent of hijinks revolving around the President’s lack of neuroticism and how that is apparently some issue of national concern. As you might have come to expect (if you’re a follower) Huff Post has a nice little story and one of those cool montage vids that nicely summarizes the stupidity.

‘New Benji’s’ Coming Fall ‘11

Once again, the U.S. currency is getting a makeover ‘to counter the counterfeiters’. Whateva, n!99a.

The “new Benjamins” to be released in February 2011 retain the traditional look of the U.S. currency, with Benjamin Franklin’s portrait. They aim to foil counterfeiters with difficult and costly to reproduce features such as a blue three-dimensional security ribbon with alternating images of bells and the number 100 that move and change as the viewing angle is tilted.

A Classic Speech, Possibly On Deaf Ears

I remember watching this for the first time about a year or so ago. I thought it was worth posting, just in case nobody ever saw it.

I wish stuff like this happened more often. Kids of today should still be doing this. Children have less reputation and ego to manage when speaking their mind, and this is a very good example of how, over time, we’ve suppressed so much of our own consciousness. The truth of the matter is, this isn’t even a very deep speech, but given her age, the prestigious stage this is on, and how relevant this is to EVERYONE ALIVE, dammit it should get the kind of reaction this would get if it was the winning shot of a Game 7 NBA Finals game:

That was a pretty dope oop too.
